Susan Cotter is a Professor and the Associate Dean for University Research at Marshall B Ketchum University. She is a pediatric optometrist and clinician-scientist with primary research interests in clinical management strategies for strabismus, amblyopia, convergence insufficiency, and childhood refractive error. Sue is the immediate past co-Chair of the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG), an NIH/NEI-funded clinical research network of 400+ pediatric optometrists and ophthalmologists who perform randomized clinical trials related to pediatric eye disorders.
Sue is the Immediate Past President of the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate in Pediatric Optometry, Binocular Vision, and Perception. She is on the Scientific Bureau of the World Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS) and was the Co-Chair of the Public Health & Disparities Research Panel for the NEI's recent Strategic Plan for the Future. Sue is a recipient of the Academy's Glenn A. Fry Lecture Award, UAB's Springer Lecture Award, and the 2024 International Optometrist of the Year Award from the Terrassa School of Optics and Optometry (FOOT), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. She is the editor of the textbook Clinical Applications of Prisms.
